Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to Become New ACC President in 2025

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is preparing for a leadership transition, with the current Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, set to assume the presidency of the regional cricket governing body. Naqvi’s term as ACC President will commence in January 2025 and last two years.

Mohsin Naqvi’s upcoming presidency represents a significant moment for Pakistan’s role in the region’s cricket administration. The leadership of the ACC rotates among member countries, ensuring a diverse representation and continuity in governance. The current ACC President and Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah was granted a one-year extension earlier this year, providing a smooth transition for Mohsin Naqvi’s tenure.

Beyond his duties with the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi also holds the position of Pakistan’s Interior Minister. Because of this, his tenure as PCB chairman has often been labeled as “political,” with scrutiny from the pubic and former cricketers as well.  The upcoming role with the ACC will see Mohsin Naqvi juggling responsibilities across these key areas, highlighting his extensive experience and leadership skills.

An official announcement regarding Naqvi’s presidency is expected during the next ACC meeting, scheduled for October-November. This leadership change comes at a time of growing importance for regional cricket administration, with significant tournaments and initiatives shaping the future of the sport in Asia.

As the new ACC President, Naqvi will oversee crucial developments and strategic decisions that will influence the cricketing landscape in Asia
