Lamborghini is set to unveil its latest creation, rumored to be named the “Lamborghini Temerario”, at the 2024 Monterey Car Week on August 16. It will replace the iconic Huracan, a staple of Lamborghini’s lineup which is set to end production in December this year. The Temerario represents Lamborghini’s ongoing transition towards electrification, aligning with the company’s ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’ program, which aims to electrify the entire model range.
The Temerario will be equipped with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, a significant shift from the naturally aspirated V10 engines traditionally used in the Huracan and Gallardo. This engine, combined with a hybrid system with three electric motors, is expected to produce an impressive 876 bhp. The V8 itself can deliver 788 hp of power and 730Nm of torque, with a rev limit reaching 10,000 rpm.
The design of the Temerario will introduce new elements, including unique headlamp configurations, advanced LED lighting systems, and a redesigned rear section featuring a central exhaust and slim taillights. Inside, the vehicle will include cutting-edge technological features such as a comprehensive infotainment system and advanced digital displays.
Lamborghini’s move to a plug-in hybrid system marks a significant milestone in the automotive industry, reflecting a trend toward sustainability. This upcoming supercar, along with the flagship Revuelto and the Urus SE SUV, is part of Lamborghini’s strategic shift towards electrification. Deliveries of the Temerario are expected to begin in 2025.
Lamborghini has reported strong financial performance, with 5,558 units delivered and $1.75 billion in sales in the first half of the year. The company’s record operating profit of $496 million underscores the brand’s robust market position, particularly in the United States, its largest market.
