Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday that the Pakistan U19 cricket team will compete in a 50-over tri-series featuring Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from November 13 to 26.
However, the exact venue for the series is still to be determined, but the tournament will kick off with Pakistan facing the UAE in the opening match.
The tri-series will follow a double-league format, with the top two teams advancing to the final. This event serves as a preparatory competition for the upcoming ACC Men’s U-19 Asia Cup 2024, providing the young cricketers with valuable match experience ahead of the main event.
In the lead-up to the tri-series, the PCB will organize a National U-19 Cup (50-over) and a National U-19 Championship in October.
These domestic tournaments will offer players an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents and earn a spot in the squad for the tri-series.
Usman Wahla, PCB Director International, expressed his enthusiasm for the tri-series, highlighting its significance as a preparatory stage for the U19 Asia Cup.
“We are delighted that the Pakistan U19 Cricket team will be taking part in a highly competitive U19 tri-series in the UAE just before the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup. This will be a great opportunity for the young players to grow and nurture their skills,” Wahla remarked.
Wahla also conveyed his gratitude to the Emirates Cricket Board for organizing the tri-series, emphasizing the strong bilateral ties and shared commitment to nurturing young talent between the two boards.
