On Wednesday, the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) approved seven new projects for roads and healthcare development. The initiatives have an estimated cost of Rs. 9 billion and are planned for the fiscal year 2024-25.
In its 11th meeting, chaired by Planning and Development Board Chairman Barrister Nabeel Awan, the PDWP approved several key projects.
These include the rehabilitation of Shujabad Jalalpur Pirwala Road in Multan district for Rs. 2.7 billion, and the dualization of the metalled road from Thalli Chowk to Iqbalabad (N-5) in Rahim Yar Khan district, costing Rs. 1.025 billion.
The PDWP meeting also approved other significant projects, including the rehabilitation of the Kasur to Raiwind road for Rs. 2.095 billion. Furthermore, the rehabilitation of the metalled road from Shoria Gilania Chowk (N-55) to Samina Sadat will cost Rs. 418.345 million.
A new flyover at the Jhal Road railway crossing in Sahiwal City will be constructed for Rs. 914 million. The construction of a dual carriageway from M-3 Motorway Samundri Interchange to Samundri City in Faisalabad district will cost Rs. 1.767 billion.
The meeting also greenlit the Infection Control Programme Phase (II), with a budget of Rs. 473.636 million. The meeting was attended by P&D Board Secretary Dr. Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Dr. Nasir Iqbal Malik, board members, and senior representatives from relevant provincial departments.
