Pakistan Shaheens secured a four-wicket victory over NT Strike, in the first ODI match of their Darwin tour in Australia, courtesy of all-round performances from Jahandad Khan and Mubasir Khan.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, NT Strike struggled against the Shaheens‘ disciplined bowling, getting all out for 142 runs in 46.1 overs.
Jahandad Khan gave a stellar performance with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 26 runs, his best figures in One Day matches, surpassing his previous record of 3 for 39. Mubasir Khan also excelled, claiming 3 wickets for 18 runs.
For NT Strike, Jagadeswara Koduru was the standout batter, scoring 59 runs, including four fours and two sixes to help his team reach 142.
Chasing a target of 143, Pakistan Shaheens achieved it in 35.1 overs with six wickets down. The innings started poorly as Haseebullah was dismissed for just a couple of runs.
Sahibzada Farhan and Usman Khan then provided a 52-run partnership for the second wicket, but both were dismissed by Matt Hammond in the same over.
Moreover, Usman scored 20 runs, and captain Mohammad Haris was dismissed for a duck. Farhan added 30 runs before his untimely dismissal, leaving the Shaheens at 60 for 4.
Irfan Khan and Mubasir Khan steadied the innings with a 34-run partnership for the fifth wicket, with Irfan scoring 21 runs. Mubasir continued to anchor the chase, adding 31 runs with Arafat Minhas for the sixth wicket. Minhas contributed 18 runs before getting out.
Mubasir remained unbeaten on 32, with Jahandad Khan supporting him with a crucial 10-run cameo, guiding Pakistan Shaheens to a much-needed victory.
