PCB Decides to Upgrade the Quality of Balls for Upcoming Domestic Season

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the introduction of Dukes and Kookaburra balls for the upcoming domestic season.

The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and President’s Trophy, the premier first-class competitions in Pakistan, will now feature the Dukes ball. Known for its pronounced seam and swing, the Dukes ball offers bowlers a greater advantage, potentially enhancing the skills of fast bowlers and creating more challenging conditions for batsmen.

For the shorter formats, including One-Day and T20 matches, the PCB has decided to use the Kookaburra ball. The Kookaburra ball is widely used in international cricket and is known for its consistency and durability.

This decision follows extensive deliberations with ball manufacturers as PCB aims to align Pakistan’s domestic season standards with those of international cricket. The PCB believes that the introduction of these balls will not only improve the quality of the game domestically but also better prepare players for international competitions.

A PCB spokesperson commented on the decision: “The use of Dukes balls in our premier first-class competitions will help our fast bowlers develop their skills and adapt to challenging conditions. Similarly, the Kookaburra ball in the shorter formats will ensure consistency with the international standards, offering our players the best preparation for global tournaments.”

The upcoming season promises to be an exciting one for domestic cricket in Pakistan, with players and fans alike eager to see the impact of this strategic change.
