Following high failure rate in the class nine exams, the Lahore Board received thousands of online applications from students requesting rechecks.
According to reports, 150,000 candidates failed the class nine exams under the Lahore Board. The History of Pakistan paper had the highest failure rate, with only 12.5 percent of students passing.
The pass rate for Islamic History was 45 percent, whereas General Math had a pass rate of 58 percent and General Science 60 percent. Chemistry saw 62 percent of students passing, and Mathematics had a pass rate of 63 percent.
In Civics, the pass rate was 66 percent, while 69 percent of students passed Physics. Students can apply for rechecking until August 24, with the fee now set at Rs. 1400. They must deposit the fee in the bank and upload their application online. The Lahore Board will notify candidates through SMS about the rechecking process.
Yesterday, the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education officially released the results for the Class 9 exams. 287,000 candidates participated in the exams this year.
According to Zahid Mian, the Lahore Board’s Controller of Examinations, over 127,000 students passed the exams, while 159,000 students did not clear them, highlighting a tough year for many candidates.
