The federal government has divided the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) into three separate entities.
In an official notification, the government announced the establishment of the Pakistan Airports Authority to manage airports nationwide. Sources told ProPakistani this restructuring targets operational efficiency and oversight in the aviation sector.
The second entity is the Bureau of Aircraft Safety Investigation which will help ensure the safety and integrity of air travel. According to the notification, the new Airport Authority will allocate 0.1 percent of all aircraft landing fees across the country to fund the Bureau’s safety investigations.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 34 of the Pakistan Air Safety Investigation Act, 2023 (L of 2023), the Federal Government is pleased to determine that the Pakistan Airports Authority shall pay to the Bureau of Aircraft Safety Investigations zero point one percent (0.1%) of the portion of fee for landing of aircraft at any airport levied and collected by the Pakistan Airports Authority,” the notification stated.
The Pakistan Airports Authority, shall by the 31st July of each financial year, transfer the prescribed percentage of the fee before the deduction of income tax, to the Fund of the Bureau of Aircraft Safety Investigations, it added.
