Pakistan’s Olympic Champion Arshad Nadeem revealed that he received multiple offers from foreign countries following his stellar performances at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
Nadeem, who made headlines by breaking the Olympic record in Paris, revealed this during an interview on the show of senior journalist Hamid Mir.
The Olympic Champion claimed that these offers were tempting, as the countries invited him to switch allegiances and represent them on the international stage.
“They wanted me to leave Pakistan and join their ranks to help me become a World Champion, as they had world class facilities.” Nadeem stated.
However, the athlete made it clear that his love for Pakistan outweighed the allure of better opportunities abroad. “I love the soil of Pakistan,” Nadeem affirmed, expressing his commitment to his homeland.
Despite the challenges he faces in terms of inadequate facilities and limited training resources, Nadeem emphasized his desire to achieve global success while representing Pakistan.
Nadeem’s call for improved sports infrastructure in Pakistan echoes a long-standing demand from athletes in various disciplines. “I want better facilities and training centers in Pakistan, I assure you I can become a World Champion once more by training in Pakistan.” he asserted.
