PTA to End Illegal Use of Mobile Phone SIMs

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has begun a phase-wise initiative to block illegal mobile phone SIMs across the country. In the first phase, SIMs registered with fake credentials or canceled ID cards are being deactivated based on data provided by the National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA).

In the second phase, SIMs linked to expired ID cards will be targeted, followed by the deactivation of SIMs registered under the names of deceased individuals in the third phase.

PTA has sent alert messages to all users advising them to update their SIM-related data to avoid disruption.

The PTA emphasized that the illegal use of mobile phone SIMs, often associated with various unlawful activities, will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

  • Where has been PTA till now? Was it sleeping ?
Why were these SIMs issued and who issued them?

Now do not tell the public to stand in long queues in front of telecom company offices to have their SIMs verified. This was done a couple of years ago when the whole nation was made to queue up in front of telecom companies offices and not only that they had to pay Rs. 10/- each for each SIM’s verification. There is every possibility that such madness can occur here.
