You Can Now Visit Historic Sites in Lahore on New Electric Carts

The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has introduced electric carts to make touring Lahore Fort more comfortable for visitors. These carts were provided by the Punjab Tourism and Economic Growth Programme (PTEGP), with 15 carts initially given to WCLA—10 for Lahore Fort and 5 for Shalimar Gardens and Jahangir’s Tomb.

At Lahore Fort, 10 electric carts are available to take tourists to 12 designated stations around the fort. The aim of this service is to provide an easy and comfortable way for visitors, especially the elderly and children, to explore the historical sites, explained Tanya Qureshi, Director at WCLA.

The E-cart service is user-friendly and can be accessed either by a simple phone call or through a booking booth at the fort. There are three main pick-up points: Roshnai Gate, Gurdwara Dera Sahib, and Picture Wall. The route is well-marked, with signs indicating the direction and station locations. The carts pass by significant landmarks such as Akbari Gate, Alamgiri Gate, Shahi Hammam, Picture Wall, Ahata-e-Jahangiri, Deewan-e-Aam, Makatib Khana, and Huzoori Bagh.

Since the launch of this service, the number of visitors to Lahore Fort has increased notably, reflecting the success of WCLA’s efforts to boost tourism at the site.
