Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Could Get Another Name Change

Recent rumors suggest Samsung might be contemplating a significant change in its flagship smartphone naming convention that could stir up mixed reactions among tech enthusiasts.

This speculation comes on the heels of Google’s recent smartphone naming scheme, which, despite its logical approach, has faced criticism from some corners of the internet.

According to a tipster on X (formerly Twitter), Samsung may be considering rebranding its top-tier model in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Instead of the expected “Galaxy S26 Ultra,” the device could be christened “Galaxy S26 Note.” This potential name change appears to be aimed at highlighting the device’s built-in S Pen functionality, a feature that has become increasingly central to Samsung’s premium offerings.

Samsung’s classic Note phones always came with an S Pen, a privilege that was then shifted to the Ultra phones. But it appears we are going back to the old naming scheme again, for some reason.

This rumored shift in naming strategy draws parallels to Google’s recent approach with its Pixel line. Google’s current lineup includes a standard Pixel 9, two sizes of Pixel 9 Pro, and a Pixel Fold with the “Pro” designation, reflecting its premium status and price point.

According to the same source, the company might rebrand the Galaxy S26+ as the Galaxy S26 Pro. This move could be seen as Samsung’s response to the industry-wide trend of “Pro” designations, a term currently absent from its mobile device nomenclature.

However, it’s crucial to approach these rumors with caution. The source emphasizes that these changes are still in the consideration phase at Samsung and are far from finalized. Given that we’re likely more than a year away from the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, there’s ample time for plans to evolve or change entirely.
