Former WWE Star Reveals Harrowing Experience Around his Departure from the Company

In September 2023, about a week before he was due to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship, Former WWE star Mustafa Ali announced he was let go from the promotion among a slew of releases at the time.

Since then, Ali has been on a tear in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling and the independent circuit, embarking on a world tour campaign with the motto “In (Mustafa) Ali, We Trust”.

Now a former TNA X Division champion, Mustafa Ali has recently revealed in a video that his wife had a broken neck around the time he was let go from WWE.

For context, WWE has a 90 day non compete clause in their contracts which means wrestlers who have been let go may not show up in other companies for that amount of time.

In the video, Ali stated “No one knew those whole 90 days while I’m getting ready to go do this world tour and prove that, I was dealing with the wife that needed major neck surgery, and I got three kids so you have to imagine when I have to go on the road I have to make sure I come home in one piece”. He further added “I’m expected to perform, I’m expected to deliver and if I fell short of those expectations, I failed then”.

This not only shines a stark light on the brutal nature of the wrestling business, but also shows just how much adversity the man has overcome. Mustafa Ali, having left TNA recently, is now scheduled to face Zilla Fatu (son of former WWE Wrestler Umaga) at a show for the House of Glory promotion on September 5th.
