Deputy Commissioner (DC) Irfan Nawaz Memon has initiated an audit of all 66 private housing societies within the Islamabad district. This decision was made during a meeting focused on revenue matters, which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Revenue (ADCR) Imtiaz Janjua and other revenue officers.
The audit aims to scrutinize the fees charged by these housing societies, ensuring they adhere to legal and financial standards. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of previous decisions and addressed pending revenue cases in Islamabad. Emphasis was placed on achieving revenue targets and advancing the digitization of land records to facilitate citizen convenience.
DC Memon directed that all pending revenue cases be resolved promptly, highlighting the importance of the digital policy in streamlining processes for the public. The ADCR was instructed to provide daily reports on these cases to the Revenue Department, and action was mandated against any revenue staff delaying cases without valid reasons.
In parallel with the housing society audit, the Excise and Taxation Department, led by Assistant Excise Officer Asif Shah, conducted a rigorous operation targeting vehicle compliance issues. This operation focused on vehicles using non-sample number plates, tinted windows, police revolving lights, and those failing to pay token tax.
As a result, action was taken against 66 vehicles for various violations, including the use of unauthorized number plates and tinted glasses. Additionally, 99 vehicles were penalized for operating without registered number plates.
The registration of 53 vehicles was suspended due to legal infractions, and police lights were removed from three vehicles, which were subsequently seized by the government. Furthermore, token tax, along with fines, was collected from 200 vehicles that had not fulfilled their tax obligations.
