Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, has addressed growing uncertainty regarding the venues for the upcoming Test series between Pakistan and England.
Originally slated to begin on October 7, the three-match series faced speculation about a potential shift to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to stadium renovations in Pakistan.
The PCB Chairman reassured the cricketing community that the series would go ahead in Pakistan, with matches confirmed in Multan and Rawalpindi.
Reports of the venue change sparked concern within the England camp, with head coach Brendon McCullum expressing frustration.
Speaking at The Oval ahead of England’s Test against Sri Lanka, McCullum admitted the uncertainty was hampering team preparations. “We don’t really know what’s happening in Pakistan, and it’s hard to pick a team without knowing where we’re playing,” he said.
PCB Chairman emphasized that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) was fully on board with the arrangements. “The series will be held as scheduled, and we are in constant contact with the ECB, who are satisfied with the venues,” Naqvi confirmed.
Looking ahead, Naqvi also provided an update on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to hosting the event.
However, India’s participation remains uncertain, pending government approval. Naqvi stated the PCB is in contact with both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and other participating teams’ boards.
