Mark Wood Ruled Out of Pakistan Test Series Due to Shoulder Injury

England’s premium pacer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the upcoming series against Pakistan and New Zealand due to a recurring elbow injury.

The 33-year-old fast bowler, who had already missed part of the Sri Lanka series after suffering a thigh strain during the first Test at Old Trafford, underwent an elbow scan that revealed more serious damage than initially feared.

What was supposed to be a routine check-up turned into a significant setback. Wood took to Instagram to share his disappointment, stating that the scan showed bone stress in his right elbow.

“During what I thought was a routine check on a previously troublesome elbow, I was shocked to learn I’ve got some bone stress in my right elbow,” Wood wrote, calling the diagnosis “pretty rubbish news.”

As a result, Wood will be unavailable for England’s remaining six Test matches of the year, which include three against Pakistan in October and three against New Zealand in December.

Wood’s injury marks the latest in a series of setbacks for the bowler, who has battled various injuries throughout his career, raising concerns about his long-term fitness.

His absence leaves England short of a key pace option as they prepare for challenging tours later in the year. The ECB camp will try to work with him closely so that he can recover quickly for next year’s busy cricket schedule.
