An audit report has revealed that 99 employees were illegally appointed at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) during the 2022-23 period. Authorities ignored provincial and regional quotas, according to the findings.
The report states that the appointments were made without following the necessary procedures, including a public advertisement, which is mandatory as per the Establishment Division’s guidelines.
Moreover, test-based merit lists were not shown to the auditors, nor were the examination papers of the candidates provided for review.
The report further highlighted that basic eligibility criteria were not adhered to before conducting the screening test, and these appointments were not made on the recommendations of the Selection Board.
As a result, the appointments, particularly for Grade 19 to Grade 9 positions, have been declared illegal. No official response has been given by the university administration regarding the findings of the audit until the filing of this report.
