The Sindh Education Department has decided to dismiss absentee, or “ghost,” teachers. According to the department, 20 teachers from the Sharqi district have been absent from their duties, with many having lived abroad for years without informing the department, all while still receiving their salaries.
The Education Department had earlier requested these teachers to explain their prolonged absence, but none responded. As a result, the department has decided to terminate their employment.
Sindh is facing a widespread shortage of teachers, with hundreds of schools affected. Additionally, recent reports highlight a shortage of textbooks in several schools.
