Over 200,000 aspiring candidates applied for the recruitment of nearly 12,500 police constables in the Sindh Police Department, with 75,172 successfully passing the physical fitness test.
A total of 21,062 eligible candidates appeared for the written test at Federal Urdu University, conducted in four shifts over Saturday and Sunday. The written exam was organized by Sukkur IBA Testing Services and Sindh Testing Service (STS), under the supervision of Sindh Police officials.
Dr. Pervaiz Memon, in charge of the STS Karachi center, stated that examination centers were set up in five regions of Sindh—Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana—where the test was conducted simultaneously.
In Karachi, 21,062 candidates appeared for the exam, while Hyderabad saw 19,410, Shaheed Benazirabad 10,310, Sukkur 13,679, and Larkana 10,711 participants.
Dr. Memon noted that the high unemployment rate prompted a large turnout of young candidates eager for jobs in the police force, leading to a 96% attendance rate for the test.
Professor Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University and CEO of STS, visited several examination centers and expressed satisfaction with the overall arrangements. He emphasized that merit and transparency are their guiding principles, and every effort would be made to uphold these values.
Many young candidates voiced their aspirations to serve the community and contribute to the fight against crime through their roles in the police department.
However, the written test held at Federal Urdu University caused traffic disruptions along University Road, inconveniencing commuters.
