Afghanistan Cricket Board Eyes Hosting Asian Events

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) expressed its intent to host future Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events, signaling its growing ambition within the cricketing world.

Key topics of discussion at the meeting included the inclusion of cricket in the 2026 Asian Games, future ACC tournaments, and media rights for the 2024–31 cycle.

The meeting also reviewed membership applications from Uzbekistan, Mongolia, and the Philippines, reflecting the ACC’s efforts to expand the sport across Asia.

A highlight for Afghanistan was the finalization of the schedule for the upcoming Bangladesh-Afghanistan series, which will be played across all formats.

Moreover, Bangladesh has positively responded to the tour, further strengthening cricketing ties between the two nations.

Afghanistan Cricket Board‘s participation in the meeting underlined its growing influence, as the board’s concerns were given significant attention.

The ACC emphasized the importance of inter-board cooperation to ensure the smooth development of cricket in the region.

Pakistan was represented by Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer, as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was unable to attend due to prior commitments.

The meeting showcased the ACC’s strategic planning for the future, with Afghanistan emerging as an active player in regional cricket diplomacy.
