Former Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Moin Khan has stated that if the Indian team does not participate in the Champions Trophy next year, Pakistan should also refrain from sending a team to any future events in India.
In an interview, Moin Khan stated that former Indian cricketers like Sourav Ganguly, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Venkatesh Prasad should advise their cricket board to keep politics separate from cricket.
He highlighted that fans of both nations around the world want to see their teams play against each other in bilateral series and this will also benefit the sport as well.
“In my view, Indian cricket legends should advise the BCCI to keep sports separate from politics. Fans worldwide want India and Pakistan to play, benefiting not just Pakistan but the sport as a whole.
India must honor ICC commitments, and if they don’t, Pakistan should also consider taking a stand by not participating in future tournaments in India.” Moin stated.
Moin Khan argued that India needs to change its longstanding tradition of not sending teams to Pakistan, otherwise, the role of the ICC in upholding its commitments to its events could come into question.
He emphasized, that if the Indian team does not come, Pakistan should also avoid sending a team to future tournaments in India.
