Excise Begins Heavy Fines for Tinted Cars and Unregistered Vehicles in Islamabad

The Excise Department in Islamabad has initiated a firm crackdown on unregistered vehicles, non-standard number plates, and vehicles with tinted windows. Vehicles equipped with flashlights or police lights are also under scrutiny. Strict penalties are being enforced, with heavy fines imposed on those violating the regulations, regardless of where the vehicle is from.

According to the Excise Department, vehicles with engine capacities of up to 1,000 cc will face fines of Rs. 5,000, while those between 1,000 cc and 2,000 cc will be fined Rs. 10,000. Vehicles with engine capacities exceeding 2,000 cc will incur penalties of up to Rs. 20,000.

Director Excise, Bilal Azam, emphasized that no external pressures or recommendations will influence the enforcement of these rules, and the registration of vehicles will remain suspended until fines are fully paid. Furthermore, under the notification issued by the Chief Commissioner, repeat offenders will face a fivefold increase in fines.

In addition to the capital, similar measures are being taken in other cities like Quetta and Peshawar, where vehicles with tinted windows are targeted to ensure compliance with the law.
