Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited Gaddafi Stadium at night to evaluate the progress of the ongoing upgrade of the venue. During his visit, Naqvi inspected the renovations in the basement and across the stadium, ensuring that preparations were on schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed his commitment to completing the upgrades on time, stressing the importance of having the venue fully ready before the tournament begins. He also gave specific instructions to the authorities overseeing the work on the stadium’s enclosures, pushing for timely completion.
The project director from the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) updated Naqvi on the current status, and the PCB chief expressed satisfaction with the pace of the work.
The 2025 Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9, with March 10 set as a reserve day. Pakistan is placed in Group A, alongside Bangladesh, New Zealand and rivals India. Group B features England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaiting clearance from the Indian government before confirming its participation in matches hosted in Pakistan.
The tournament will be played across three cities: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Lahore will host seven matches, including the final, while the National Stadium in Karachi will host the opening match and one semi-final. Rawalpindi is set to stage five matches, including the second semi-final.
