Punjab Cabinet Approves Mass Wedding Program for 3,000 Brides

The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has approved a large-scale mass wedding program aimed at helping 3,000 underprivileged girls across the province.

The initiative passed during the 17th cabinet meeting on Tuesday, will provide each bride with Rs. 100,000 through an ATM card, along with essential household items such as furniture, clothing, and dinnerware.

In addition, the cabinet also approved the lease of 100,000 acres of land to landless farmers for temporary cultivation. The leases will be between three and five years, offering a lifeline to struggling rural communities.

The meeting also approved an electric bus service, with 27 buses expected to arrive in the initial phase. By the end of the year, 680 buses will be operational throughout Punjab, powered by solar-charged panels installed in parking areas.

Other discussions included a proposed electric taxi service for Lahore, better regulation of flour and poultry prices, and the distribution of Kisan cards to 170,000 farmers. Additionally, the cabinet greenlit the construction of 839 homes under the New Pakistan Housing Scheme in Raiwind, Chiniot, and Sargodha.
