Every Race Car Fan’s Favorite Nissan GT-R is No More

It’s a sad moment for car enthusiasts as Nissan will discontinue the R35 GT-R this month. This model, beloved by many, marked the first time Americans could own the legendary “Godzilla” without needing to import it. Though not officially a Skyline GT-R in the U.S., it carried the same spirit and excitement.

To mark the end of the R35, Nissan is releasing two special editions: the Skyline edition and the T-spec Takumi edition. The same 3.8-liter turbocharged VR38 V6 engine powers both versions, producing 565 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

These limited editions stand out with their exclusive color options. The Skyline edition will feature the iconic Bayside blue, while the T-spec Takumi will showcase a stunning midnight purple finish. The interiors are equally distinctive, with Mori green inside the T-spec and Sora blue inside the Skyline edition.

For those hoping to grab one of these collector’s items, the Skyline edition starts at $132,985, while the T-spec Takumi is more expensive at $152,985. However, fewer than 200 units will be available, making them highly sought after.

This may be the end for the R35, but Nissan’s legacy of performance and innovation will live on through its upcoming models.
