Kuwait Arrests Interior Ministry Official in Alcohol Smuggling Case

Kuwaiti authorities have apprehended six individuals in connection with a significant alcohol smuggling operation estimated to be worth around 200,000 Kuwaiti dinars (approximately $650,000). The operation was spearheaded by the General Department for Combating Drugs, which successfully detained two Kuwaiti nationals, one of whom is identified as an officer from the Ministry of Interior. Additionally, four other suspects of Asian descent were also arrested during the operation.

The operation highlights ongoing efforts by Kuwaiti authorities to combat illegal activities, including the smuggling of alcohol, which is prohibited in the country. The involvement of a Ministry of Interior officer raises serious concerns about internal corruption and complicity within law enforcement agencies. Investigations are likely to continue as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the smuggling network and any additional individuals who may be involved.
