Shoaib Malik Rumored to Become PCB’s Director of International Cricket

In what is to be yet another chaotic development in Pakistan Cricket, senior journalist Dr. Nauman Niaz has alleged that Shoaib Malik is trying to take up the role of Director of International Cricket in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

On a show with former cricketer Rashid Latif, Dr. Nauman Niaz also alleged that former players Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik were working together to replace the current Director of International Cricket Usman Wahla.

This news also ties into reports of a recent dispute between Wahab Riaz and Usman Wahla over the denial of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Usama Mir. At the time Wahab was public with the notion that Usama Mir made multiple attempts to contact Wahla regarding the NOC but to no avail. Wahla denied the allegations but Wahab Riaz responded by claiming that he had the proof to support his claims.

According to reports, there is also immense dissatisfaction towards Wahla’s performance in his current role from within the PCB itself. Malik has been serving as the mentor for the Stallions in the Champions Cup which has kept him in tune with the inner workings at the PCB.

If the alleged reports are true and Malik indeed steps into the role, this will just be the latest in a long line of moves and shakeups within Pakistan Cricket.
