Here’s the List of Every Pakistan Head Coach in History

Gary Kirsten has joined a long list of people to have coached the Pakistan Cricket team underlying another significant issue for the Pakistan Cricket Board of not being able to retain appointments for long.

Kirsten was appointed in April for a two-year term but walks away just months into his tenure with Pakistan’s Champions Trophy defense drawing ever so close. His resignation means Pakistan is now relying on Jason Gillespie in an interim capacity but with the reports of the Australian being unhappy with a change in his role, PCB may soon be looking for its 22nd coach overall.

Pakistan’s head coaching role has been marked by constant changes, with few coaches enjoying extended tenures.

Among the longest-serving head coaches was former captain Intikhab Alam, who led Pakistan from 1982 to 1992, including during their historic 1992 World Cup win. He later returned for a brief stint from 2008-2010.

Mickey Arthur, who led Pakistan to victory in the 2017 Champions Trophy, holds the record for the longest continuous run as head coach from 2016 to 2019. Under Arthur, Pakistan reached the top of both T20I and Test rankings, further solidifying his impact before the team fell apart once again following his dismissal.
