Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Could Have Two Different Models

Samsung is reportedly developing two renditions of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which are determined by different codenames, indicating a more mixed lineup for their foldable series in 2025.

While the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has only been on the market for a few months, early signs of Samsung’s next generation of foldables are already emerging. The codenames include “Q7” for the standard Galaxy Z Fold 7 and “Q7M” for a new variant. However, the purpose of the “M” designation is still unclear.

According to reports from South Korea, Samsung may be exploring unique designs, such as a foldable device with three panels and two hinges, similar to the recently launched Huawei Mate XT Ultimate. However, it’s uncertain if the Q7M will be this “tri-fold” model or if it will have a separate codename.

Development for the Q7M model appears to be progressing alongside the regular Q7, suggesting that neither variant will launch until summer 2025. The first half of the year will likely focus on Samsung’s classic models like the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy A56, with foldable releases following later in the year.

Recently, Samsung introduced a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition (SE) in South Korea, featuring a slimmer build, a 200MP camera, and no S Pen support. However, this SE model is exclusive to South Korea and China, making it uncertain if the Q7M variant will be globally available or limited to specific markets.
