Younis Khan Offers His Services to Karachi

Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan expressed his commitment to supporting cricket in Karachi, stating he’s “always ready to serve” the sport and the city.

Speaking at the launch ceremony of the Karachi Premier League (KPL), Khan reflected on his early years in the sport, recalling how he represented Karachi at the U-14, U-16, and U-19 levels and noted the challenge of breaking into Karachi’s competitive first-class team.

Khan sees the KPL as a potential game-changer for grassroots cricket, stating, “The KPL can be a turning point for grassroots cricket.” He voiced optimism that the tournament could unearth promising young talent, providing a platform for emerging players.

The Karachi Premier League is set to commence on November 1, promising to showcase the city’s brightest up-and-coming cricketers.

Younis Khan, meanwhile, will turn his attention to the upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League after being named the head coach of the Bangla Tigers.

With Pakistan on the lookout for a new white-ball head coach, Younis may be seen as a viable candidate by the Pakistan Cricket Board if he manages to prove his credentials in franchise cricket circles. The winning captain of the 2009 T20 World Cup might just be the missing piece that restores Pakistan cricket.
