Proposal to Introduce Installment Plan for Hajj Under Consideration

The government has proposed a new Hajj financing plan aimed at easing the financial burden on low- and middle-income citizens intending to perform Hajj.

The plan, which is awaiting approval from the federal cabinet, would allow pilgrims to pay for Hajj expenses in three separate installments instead of a single lump sum.

According to reports, the proposal is part of the government’s latest Hajj policy prepared by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Under this structure, pilgrims will have the option to pay Rs1.1 million in three stages: an initial deposit of Rs200,000 to apply, followed by Rs400,000 after the selection draw, and the final amount before departure.

Officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs highlighted that the installment plan is designed to alleviate financial pressure on lower and middle-income households, making Hajj more affordable and accessible.

The ministry emphasized that this new approach would provide much-needed support to citizens who struggle with upfront payment demands.

Last month, the federal cabinet passed the Hajj Policy 2025 through a circulation summary, setting the government-sponsored Hajj package cost between Rs1.75 million and Rs11.75 million, according to official estimates.
