Samsung is preparing to expand its foldable smartphone lineup with a more budget-friendly option, according to recent industry rumors.
Rather than introducing an affordable book-style foldable, the tech giant is expected to unveil a Z Flip FE (Fan Edition) clamshell device. Sources suggest this new model could debut alongside the anticipated Galaxy S25 Slim in April next year.
While specific details about the Z Flip FE’s specifications and price point remain under wraps, we expect it to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This timing aligns with Samsung’s established pattern of releasing its Fold and Flip models every year.
Looking ahead to next year’s lineup, leaks indicate Samsung may introduce two distinct Fold models. However, analysts suggest it’s unlikely either will carry the budget-oriented FE designation. This is because a Samsung Electronics official previously confirmed that the company has no plans to release a cheaper model.
Instead, the company is expected to release a standard Galaxy Z Fold 7 as a direct successor to the Z Fold 6, accompanied by a new Z Fold Special Edition variant, which will likely be slimmer with better cameras like the current model in South Korea and China.
Since Samsung’s FE counterparts of flagship phones don’t bring massive changes in specifications, we expect to see the same from the Galaxy Z Flip FE. Samsung typically uses the same chipset and nearly the same camera setups as its flagship models in FE phones, but things could always change with the foldable phones to bring the price further down.
