Changan Automobile recently shared its October 2024 sales, reporting 250,832 units across its brands, reflecting a 4.1% increase from last year. This growth shows Changan’s steady progress in the automotive market.
A major highlight was the surge in sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs), which reached 85,272 units, marking an impressive 48.6% year-over-year increase. Changan’s overseas sales also rose by 33.9%, totaling 30,831 units, demonstrating its expanding global reach.
As China’s oldest car manufacturer, Changan has actively shifted towards sustainability. Starting in 2017, Changan introduced new NEV brands like Deepal, Avatar, and Changan Nevo, while also producing EVs under its main brand.
Changan Nevo, known as Changan Qiyuan, represents the entry-level EV line, with 18,050 units sold in October. Deepal, Changan’s mid-range NEV brand, saw strong demand, reaching 28,730 sales in October.
Orders for Deepal hit a new record of 36,277, and 27,862 units were delivered. The newly launched Deepal S05 SUV significantly boosted sales, with 10,000 units sold in the first 10 days alone.
Avatr, Changan’s premium EV brand, sold 10,056 units in October. The brand introduced the Avatr 12 mid-size sedan, an extended-range EV, which has helped revitalize Avatr’s sales after past challenges. This premium line is a joint venture supported by CATL and Huawei.
In other segments, Changan’s brand achieved sales of 108,209 units. Changan Ford contributed 19,789 units, and Changan Mazda reached 7,521 units, thanks in part to the launch of the Mazda EZ-6, priced at 139,800 yuan (around $19,700).
