The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved new measures to address energy shortages and regulate expenses, passing resolutions in the provincial assembly to enforce these changes.
As part of the energy-saving effort, wedding halls across the province will close by 10 pm. The resolution, introduced by government member Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, cited the ongoing electricity and gas shortages, highlighting the need to conserve energy and reduce time wastage at public gatherings.
District administrations and deputy commissioners will be tasked with enforcing this rule, ensuring that all wedding events conclude by the designated time.
In a separate decision, the assembly also passed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ministers’ Salaries, Allowances, and Privileges Amendment Bill 2024. This bill caps renovations of official residences for ministers, covering items like carpets, curtains, and refrigerators, to Rs. 1 million.
Law Minister Aftab Alam clarified that ministers need to stay within this budget for household improvements. Additionally, ministers living in private residences will receive a monthly rent allowance of Rs. 200,000.
