Take-Two Interactive, parent company of publisher Rockstar Games has officially announced that Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 will be released in late 2025.
The confirmation came during the company’s second-quarter financial report, ending months of speculation about potential delays.
Anticipation for GTA 6 surged following the release of its first trailer in December 2023, which amassed over 100 million views within 48 hours, meaning that this impressive view count surpassed the total views of the original GTA 5 trailer in just two days.
Take-Two has previously revealed that GTA 6 is slated for a fall 2025 release, which mirrors the timeline of GTA 5’s launch in September 2013. In an interview with a media outlet, Take-Two’s CEO highlighted the challenges of determining release dates for highly anticipated games like GTA.
The CEO put special emphasis on the significant pressure placed on developers to meet the high expectations established by earlier installments in the series.
The financial report of the company also showcased the remarkable sales figures of the company’s previous games, with GTA 5, the last game in the long-running series surpassing 205 million copies sold across all platforms and sales of the much acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2 reaching sales of over 67 million copies.
