Pakistan baseball team sent an ominous warning to the rest of the teams competing in the Baseball United Arab Classic Tournament with a convincing win over Bangladesh in the opening contest.
Pakistan, the highest ranked team in the tournament, established an early lead and never let go till the end to earn a 10-0 shutout win at The Sevens Sports and Entertainment complex in Dubai.
Muhammad Hussain also became the first player to hit a home run in the newly constructed ground.
After their win over Bangladesh, Pakistan will take on UAE in their next game of the Arab Classic tonight at 8:30 PM (GST). Pakistan will then face India tomorrow before concluding their first stage campaign against Afghanistan the following day. After a round-robin first phase, the group winners will automatically advance to the semifinals, with teams second and third in each group competing in an opening quarterfinal round.
A 14-member team, accompanied by four officials, is representing Pakistan in the competition.
Pakistan Squad: Muhammad Amjad Aslam, Muhammad Hussain, Muhammad Younas, Muhammad Zohaib, Wasim Akram, Syed Muhammad Shah, Musharaf Khan, Jibran Aman Murtaza, Syed Muhib Shah, Faisal Hayat, Hussain Imam Shah, Syed Ali Shah, Shahzad Ahmad, and Umair Imdad Bhatti.
The Arab Classic is being hosted by Baseball United which aims to promote the game in the Middle East.
