Former Pakistan cricket captain Younis Khan has voiced his support for Pakistan’s newly crowned “Mr. Universe,” Rameez Ibrahim, in a heartfelt video message at the side-lines of the Karachi Premier League (KPL) Season 2 at Naya Nazimabad Cricket Ground.
Standing alongside the bodybuilder, Younis praised Rameez’s recent accomplishment, saying, “Mr. Universe is here, having won this title recently. It’s very important to appreciate him and support him.”
The cricket legend urged fans and the public to rally behind Rameez, recognizing the dedication and challenges involved in the sport.
Rameez Ibrahim made Pakistan proud last month by securing the gold medal in the Mr. Universe 2024 competition, organized by the World Fitness Federation in Las Vegas, USA.
Up against athletes from 44 other countries, Rameez not only won the title but also earned a pro card in the Men’s Physique category—a milestone that marks his ascent in the bodybuilding world.
Despite his success, Rameez’s journey wasn’t without struggles like any other athlete of a niche sport in Pakistan.
In an interview with a sports channel, he previously revealed the hurdles he faced to register for the world competition, citing a lack of support in his early days.
“I didn’t have any support to get my name registered in this competition,” Rameez shared, adding, “Alhamdulillah, I finally made it, and now I am preparing myself to win another title for my country.”
Younis Khan underscored the importance of encouragement for athletes like Rameez Ibrahim.
“For us sportspersons, appreciation means a lot because it motivates us to perform even better for our country and our people,” Younis stated.
He emphasized the physical, mental, and financial challenges athletes endure to reach such heights, adding, “Make sure that whenever sportspeople bring achievements for the country, you appreciate them. Support and follow them.”
