Gillespie Praises Haris Rauf for Exposing Australian Batting

Pakistan cricket team’s coach Jason Gillespie has credited Haris Rauf’s blistering pace for exposing cracks in Australia’s batting line-up during their recent series.

Speaking to Australian media, Gillespie praised Rauf’s impressive speed, which he said proved instrumental in highlighting Australia’s vulnerabilities, particularly in the first match that Pakistan narrowly missed out on winning.

Gillespie also anticipated changes in Australia’s line-up for the final match, speculating that they might not field their top fast bowlers on Perth’s pace-friendly track. “You always consider that they’ll bring out their main pace attack in Perth,” he noted, though he emphasized that player management decisions rest with each team’s coaches and selectors.

“Haris Rauf’s sheer pace really brought out some issues in Australia’s batting order,” Gillespie remarked, adding that Pakistan’s bowling unit effectively capitalized on Australia’s struggles.

Reflecting on Pakistan’s strong overall performance, Gillespie expressed his satisfaction not only in defeating Australia but doing so convincingly. “It’s gratifying to see the team win with such a clear margin,” he added.

Gillespie also underscored the importance of player fitness in the grueling international schedule, explaining that it’s unrealistic to expect every player to play each match without risking fatigue.

Looking ahead, Gillespie expressed confidence that Australia would address these weaknesses. “Strong teams identify their flaws and come back ready,” he stated.

Gillespie also noted the lack of enthusiasm from Cricket Australia toward the three-match ODI series, observing that the series received minimal promotion compared to the upcoming high-profile Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India.

Haris Rauf and Jason Gillespie would look to continue Pakistan’s dominance during the three-match T20I series beginning November 14th.
