Chicken and Egg Prices Increase Massively Across Major Cities in Pakistan

The prices of broiler chicken and eggs are experiencing considerable fluctuations across Pakistan, with recent increases putting a strain on household budgets. In Lahore, the cost of chicken meat saw a substantial rise of Rs. 21 per kilogram, now priced at Rs. 511 per kg, up from Rs. 490.

According to Lahore’s official rate list, live broiler chicken prices have also surged, with wholesale rates increasing by Rs. 15 per kilogram to reach Rs. 339 per kg, while the retail price has climbed to Rs. 353 per kg.

The rise is not limited to meat alone, as egg prices have also increased. In Lahore, the price of a dozen eggs now stands at Rs. 334, marking a Rs. 2 hike. Other major cities have also seen notable shifts in poultry prices.

In Multan, live chicken is currently sold at Rs. 322 per kg wholesale and Rs. 336 per kg retail, with chicken meat priced at Rs. 485 per kg. Eggs in Multan are priced at Rs. 330 per dozen. Islamabad recorded even higher prices, with chicken meat selling for Rs. 520 per kg.

These increases have created concerns among consumers, as the cost of poultry—a staple in many households—continues to climb across various regions. Prices for chicken and eggs vary widely, reflecting differing regional demands and supply dynamics.
