PCB Decides Pakistan’s New White-Ball Coach

According to various media reports, Pakistan is set to announce the replacement of Gary Kirsten, the former white-ball head coach of Pakistan.

Sources revealed that former Pakistan speedster, Aqib Javed is set to assume another responsibility with the Pakistan Cricket Team.

After being appointed as one of the national team selectors, Aqib is also set to be announced as the new white-ball head coach of the Men in Green.

Aqib has been at the forefront of Pakistan cricket lately as he is termed the mastermind behind Pakistan’s 2-1 Test series win against England recently.

After Pakistan’s success in red-ball cricket, Mohsin Naqvi is keen to appoint Aqib to change the teams fortune in white-ball cricket as well. Despite Pakistan winning the ODI series 2-1 against Australia, their first series win downunder since 2002, Pakistan’s T20 side has been on a steep decline.

The PCB higher-ups believe that Aqib could be the man to change the fortunes of the national team.

Earlier, Gary Kirsten resigned as the white-ball coach after a difference of opinion with the PCB. Kirsten’s role as the head coach had been reduced to a ‘match day strategist’, with the Selection Committee making all the decisions regarding the selection of the squad and playing XI.

Pakistan’s red-ball ‘match-day strategist’ Jason Gillespie had been appointed in a similar role for the white-ball side on an interim basis, for the tour of Australia.

Aqib is likely to assume the responsibility from Pakistan’s limited-overs tour of Zimbabwe.
