The Punjab government has decided to initiate online registration for plastic manufacturers, suppliers, and recyclers across the province.
In a statement, Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb announced that this move aims to centralize data on the plastic industry. “By registering plastic producers, suppliers, and recyclers online, we will bring the plastic supply chain fully into the formal economy, helping to combat environmental pollution and increase transparency in the economy,” she said.

Highlighting the government’s efforts against plastic pollution, Aurangzeb noted that strict action is being taken against polyethylene bags under 75 microns in thickness. She shared that nine factories violating these rules have already been issued notices. Additionally, anti-plastic squads are inspecting food outlets, markets, and shops to ensure compliance, while shopkeepers have been instructed to switch to eco-friendly alternatives.
The Senior Minister emphasized that the government is committed to eliminating the use of plastic bags through rigorous enforcement measures. She added that the Environment Protection Department would intensify its anti-plastic campaign and crackdown starting December 10.
