Samsung has announced a delay for One UI 7, pushing its release to early 2025. Despite the later-than-expected arrival, a beta program launches today, showcasing some of the new features.
Key improvements include enhanced AI capabilities and a focus on writing assistance. These AI tools will simplify writing and formatting, offer text summarization, perform spelling and grammar checks, and convert notes into organized bullet points.
Mirroring a feature found on Google Pixel phones, One UI 7 will include AI-powered call transcription. A significant redesign also simplifies the user interface and functionality. The new Now Bar contributes to this streamlined approach by consolidating relevant activities from apps like Interpreter, Music, Recording, and Stopwatch, decluttering the lock screen. This provides quick access to key notifications and actions directly on the home screen, reducing the need to unlock the phone.
Samsung has also redesigned the camera interface in One UI 7. Camera buttons, controls, and modes have been reorganized for improved accessibility. The viewfinder has also been updated to provide a clearer preview of photos and videos.
The One UI 7 beta program begins today, December 5, 2024, initially for the Galaxy S24 series in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US. Interested users can join the beta through the Samsung Members app.
As for those awaiting a stable release, that is not happening until early 2025, as mentioned earlier. Samsung may officially announce One UI 7 during the Galaxy S25 launch event in January, or sometime later.
