The Prime Minister of Pakistan has directed the recovery of Rs. 7 million from the President of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) following an unauthorized trip to France.
The Ministry of Finance, acting on the PM’s orders, sent a letter expressing disapproval to the NBP President for his decision to travel abroad without prior approval.
The letter stated that approval from the Prime Minister is required for senior government officials to take foreign trips, especially when the visits are non-essential and involve government funds.
Not only did the NBP President travel without approval, but he also spent Rs. 7 million from public funds without authorization, violating government guidelines.
The Prime Minister’s office is displeased over the actions of the NBP President and instructed him to return the amount spent during the unauthorized trip to the government treasury.
The NBP President has also been warned to be more careful in the future, with the possibility of strict disciplinary measures if similar incidents occur again. Attempts to contact the NBP President for comment were unsuccessful, and no reply was received until the filing of this story.
