The Melbourne Stars have unveiled an exciting initiative for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 14 season: reintroducing the popular Pakistan fan zone, aptly named “Pakistan Bay,” at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
The vibrant Pakistan Bay will be a dedicated space for Melbourne Stars fans, especially those of Pakistani heritage, to gather, celebrate, and cheer for their team during home games. Fans can secure memberships for this unique fan zone for the first four home games, scheduled for December 18, January 4, January 9, and January 19.
This initiative is part of Cricket Australia’s (CA) Multicultural Action Plan, which aims to promote inclusivity and provide enriching experiences for cricket fans from diverse backgrounds.
Usama Mir, who represented the Melbourne Stars in the previous BBL season, will play a key role again this year. In BBL 13, he impressed with five wickets across five matches.
The concept of Pakistan fan zones is not new for Cricket Australia. Similar zones were established during Pakistan’s recent tour of Australia for the six-match white-ball series in November, highlighting the board’s commitment to engaging with the multicultural community.
The BBL 14 season kicks off on December 15, with the Melbourne Stars taking on the Perth Scorchers in the opening match. The tournament will culminate in the grand finale on January 27, 2025.
