Umar, a talented Pakistani entrepreneur, has been awarded a full scholarship to participate in Draper University’s prestigious hero training program based on Povo.ai, an AI startup backed by the Relymer Group.. This program, focused on nurturing future business leaders. Umar is the sole participant from Pakistan, Joining a diverse Fall 2024 cohort of 72 founders from 27 countries for a 5-week program.

The group boasts a rich tapestry of experiences and perspectives, with an average age of 32. Collectively, they have secured over $20 million in funding and generated an impressive $7 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), highlighting their entrepreneurial prowess and impact.

This program offers a stimulating environment equipped with innovative tools, empowering these courageous individuals to build ventures that make a real difference.

There were 10 different teams formed and the idea is to survive 5 weeks during the program even though having conflicts. Umar and his team WONDER got first position along with his team members Enzo Moriconi , Andres Cooper , Athalis Kratouni , Sujit Velmurugan, Nursultan D. for their incredible effort and dedication! As a reward, they also received a complimentary skydiving experience at Silicon SkyDiving.

They had already trained thousands of “heroes,” with one of those graduates already going on to create a billion-dollar company. While most educational institutions boast job placement rates, Draper University instead provides the metric that their average graduate creates 5 jobs.

Draper University was founded by one of Silicon Valley’s greatest venture capitalists of all time: Tim Draper. For decades, Draper has backed blockbuster success after blockbuster success with his portfolio companies including Tesla, SpaceX, Twitch.TV, Robinhood, Coinbase, Hotmail, Skype, Solar City, Twitter, DocuSign, Baidu, AngelList, and Ancestry.com. Draper was successful in globally scaling his venture capital business, a feat previously deemed impossible by prominent VCs, with the Draper Venture Network now spread across over 70 countries. Tim Draper is also known for having purchased all 30,000 bitcoins that were seized from the Silk Road in 2014, at an average price of $258 per bitcoin.

Umar is the Founder and CEO of Relymer Group, a prominent Pakistani company at the forefront of blockchain and AI product development. He also serves on the board of the Web3 Alliance Pakistan, an organization dedicated to fostering the growth of the blockchain ecosystem in the country. The Alliance hosts monthly events that bring together founders, facilitate technology transfer, share knowledge, and explore emerging opportunities within the blockchain space. Umar’s expertise is further recognized through his active participation in blockchain hackathons worldwide, where he mentors and speaks as a distinguished guest.

The lessons Umar has learned at Draper University are best represented by the Hero’s Oath, a pledge written by Tim Draper that we read together every morning at Draper University:

  • I will promote freedom at all costs.
  • I will do everything in my power to drive, build, and pursue progress and change.
  • My brand, my network, and my reputation are paramount.
  • I will set positive examples for others to emulate.
  • I will instill good habits in myself. I will take care of myself.
  • I will fail and fail again until I succeed.
  • I will explore the world with gusto and enthusiasm.
  • I will treat people well.
  • I will make short-term sacrifices for long term success.
  • I will pursue fairness, openness, health and fun with all that I encounter. Mostly fun.
  • I will keep my word.
  • I will try my best to make reparations for my digressions.

“I believe that future entrepreneurs will benefit greatly from experiential learning opportunities like those offered by Draper University and the Rines Angel Fund. By embracing both the art and science of entrepreneurship, the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem can thrive. This holistic approach aligns perfectly with the Draper Hero Training Program, providing an excellent pathway to connect with the Bay Area’s vibrant entrepreneurial network,” said Umar.
