In a significant development for the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey has officially signed up for the highly anticipated player draft for season 10. The announcement was made by the PSL organizers on Thursday, adding Carey to a growing list of international stars set to feature in the upcoming season.
Carey, who has been a regular fixture in Australia’s Test team, is currently competing in the ongoing five-match Test series against India. With an impressive record across formats, Carey has represented Australia in 35 Tests, 76 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 38 T20 Internationals (T20Is). He has accumulated a total of 3,712 runs, including two centuries and 19 half-centuries.
While Alex Carey has made his mark internationally, he has yet to feature in the PSL with the upcoming season 10 draft set to change that. He has previously played one season each in the IPL (Indian Premier League) and the UK’s Vitality Blast, in addition to his exploits in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).
Alex Carey’s T20 Stats:
| Format | Matches | Innings | Not Outs | Runs | Highest Score | Average | Balls Faced | Strike Rate | 100s | 50s | 4s | 6s |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| T20s | 108 | 94 | 10 | 2387 | 101 | 28.41 | 1865 | 127.98 | 2 | 13 | 228 | 65 |
Carey becomes the ninth foreign player to sign up for the PSL 10 draft, joining an impressive group of names. He will be part of a star-studded pool of international talent, which includes his Australian compatriot Usman Khawaja, England’s Tom Curran, David Willey, Dawid Malan, and Jason Roy, as well as Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza.
With the inclusion of players like Alex Carey and other international stars, PSL 10 promises to be one of the most exciting editions yet. Fans can look forward to an action-packed season as teams look to strengthen their squads ahead of the draft in January 2025.
