The couple had been visiting historical sites, including the UNESCO World Heritage site Makli graveyard, renowned for its numerous tombs and graves. They had reportedly spent the night at the graveyard before the robbery occurred.

In response to the incident, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar ordered the Sujawal SSP to submit a detailed report and directed the police to utilize modern investigative techniques. Authorities have registered a case against three suspects believed to be involved in the crime.

This robbery follows a similar incident in October, where foreign tourists were targeted in Karachi, raising ongoing concerns about the safety of visitors in the region.
