Private schools in Islamabad are set to reopen on Monday, January 6, with no plans to extend winter vacation despite ongoing cold weather.
The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) confirmed that the schedule will remain unchanged, addressing speculation among parents about a possible extension.
Schools managed by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) will resume classes later in the week, on January 9, 2025.
In contrast, winter holidays in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have been extended due to a persistent cold wave. According to the AJK Education Department, schools in the region, both public and private, will now reopen on February 6, instead of February 2 as originally planned.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, schools will resume on January 7, revising the previous reopening date of January 1. Meanwhile, Punjab’s public and private schools will remain closed until January 10, with classes starting on January 13.
Additionally, the Punjab Higher Education Department has announced that colleges will reopen on January 6, following winter breaks that began on December 24, 2024.
