Punjab Launches Program to Provide Warm Clothes For Students

The Punjab government has unveiled a new initiative to shield schoolchildren from severe winter weather by distributing warm clothing.

Starting January 13, approximately 21,000 students enrolled in public schools will receive essential winter items. The distribution will be in Lahore, Narowal, Rajanpur, and Layyah.

As part of the program, students will be provided with sweaters, jackets, shoes, and uniforms to help them stay warm during the cold months.

The project, initiated under the Chief Minister’s directives, is being carried out with the support of the Bait-ul-Mal Department and the Social Welfare Department. Officials have confirmed that the selection of schools eligible for the program has already been completed.

In a separate development, the Punjab School Education Department temporarily eased uniform rules for students. A recent notification allows students in both public and private schools to wear any type or color of warm clothing, including jackets, sweaters, coats, hats, socks, and shoes.

This decision aims to ensure children’s comfort during winter and will remain effective until February 28, 2025.
