Time to Stop Complaining and Start Contributing to Pakistan’s Growth [Opinion]

Written by: P@SHA Vice President Muhammad Umair Nizam

It’s easy to sit back and point fingers at what’s wrong in Pakistan.

Corruption, inefficiency, lack of infrastructure—we’ve all heard it a million times. But here’s the thing: complaining doesn’t fix anything. If you think something is wrong, finish the thought with, and this is what I’m going to do about it. It’s time we stop dwelling on problems and start talking about solutions.

Change Starts with Us

Businesses need to break out of the same old patterns. Exporting raw materials might be easy, but it’s time to level up. Focus on value-added products, build strong brands, and give the world a taste of what Pakistan can truly offer. This isn’t just about increasing exports—it’s about creating jobs, driving innovation, and building Pakistan’s reputation as a global player.

A Self-Reliant Pakistan

“A nation that cannot feed itself, clothe itself, and defend itself can never truly be free.” Let’s aim for self-reliance. Support local industries, encourage startups, and buy Pakistani wherever possible. Small steps lead to big change, and every contribution matters.

Our biggest failure? Poor storytelling. Pakistan isn’t just news headlines and problems. It’s a land of creativity, resilience, and potential. When you meet someone from abroad, don’t dwell on the negatives—highlight the positives. Talk proudly about Pakistan’s achievements and showcase its brighter side.

Stop Waiting for the Government

If you’re waiting for the government to fix everything, good luck. Real change starts with us. Whether it’s investing in local businesses, mentoring young talent, or simply being more responsible citizens, we all have a role to play. Take ownership. Build. Create. Lead.

Unity Above All

“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided,” said J.K. Rowling. Pakistan needs unity more than ever. Forget biases. Forget divisions. Focus on what we all want—a thriving, self-reliant Pakistan. Work together to create it.

What do we do?

Stop complaining. Start doing. Invest in Pakistan. Innovate. Share stories of hope and success. Shift your mindset. If every Pakistani takes even one small step, we’ll create a ripple effect that leads to real change.

Pakistan needs us, and the time to act is now. Let’s build the Pakistan we dream of—together. As Nelson Mandela said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done”.

  • Jazak Allahu khair. Only when you come out of a materialistic mindset is when you see the real beauty of Pakistan, and in how many ways you can contribute to it

  • Our elite wants brain drain in Pakistan thats why they do not leave a room for such brains to be here in Pakistan. So that this elite can rule on rest of Pakistan for their whole lives and also their family’s. That’s why our elite doesn’t allow us to put our opinion on how to make Pakistan a successful state. If we put our opinions openly, we are abducted, misplaced, tortured and our family suffers for whole life.
So it’s easy for you to just share your opinion and do not have a courage to listen to ours.

  • Complaining is the start of solution .

Do you tell a patient to stop complaining just bcz he’s/she’s sick ?

First thing is to complain . If you don’t complain you can’t solve anything .

Don’t wait for govt? Govt decides the law and the policy. Nothing can be done if govt doesn’t agree.

The gues author forgot JK.Rowling stance against trans community and pakistani living in 🇬🇧.

Pakistani achievements ? Such as ?
